Fall Break

We are the colonists no more, for we are united one and all. Against all odds we will fight you for our Independence. We will fight you for our families. We will fight you for our dignity, and we will fight you for our country. No matter what you say or do we will not back down. We will not back down because our unity and freedom is more important to us than our lives. We are ready to take control by ourselves without you. We can do anything you can do for we are all equal on this Earth. You still see us as infants who need to be taught to speak and walk. You do not see us as a matured country who is ready to be set free into the world. You hold on to us, keeping us from flourishing, growing, and reaching our full potential. Our whole country can see that you are afraid we will grow to be bigger and stronger than you would ever hope to be. We all see it as it lies behind your taxes, your massacres, your laws, your Acts, and your eyes.
We are prepared for this war. Although our soldiers may not be dressed in such fancy and uniformed attire as yours. Our artillery may not be as expensive or deadly as yours. Our strategy may not be as effective as yours. Our numbers may not be as high as yours, but we all know one thing and one thing only that we have bested you in…..and it’s our hearts. Our hearts will lead us to this victory and take our Independence that we truly deserve. Our hearts will unite all of America on these fateful days. As this war is current our hearts will beat only for Independence and a victory. It’s our hearts that will lead us to “The United States of America”.

Student Council speeches are this Thursday at 9:10am and voting will be this Thursday in history class.  We are only taking 15 - 20 members and there are 38 students running.  Students running for an office may still be voted onto council as a member if they have more votes than a student running for membership only.

House Keeping Items

1) Trash bag forms are due this Friday the 9th

 

2) This Friday is a school memorial day for  9-11.  Students are allowed to wear Red, White and Blue (blue jeans are ok).  However, we ask that you keep in mind that this is a REMEMBRANCE day, not a celebration, so clothes, hats, glasses, things that you would wear for the 4th of July are not acceptable.

 

3) For those students are who are not ambassadors:  Family Connect forms are due Friday.  If your student does not have one yet they will get it tomorrow.

We talked about twitter today in class and the proper way to use twitter, Internet etiquette and our "online image" I have encouraged all students to follow me twitter!  If they do not have a twitter account I have told them to ask you and to give you their user name and password so you can log onto their account and monitor it.  However, they know that is it not a requirement to have a twitter account and they may not create one without your permission. 
There will be a guest speaker coming into Holy Spirit in Oct. to talk to parents about students on twitter, facebook and other social media sights.

Today we went over all history class expectations, privileges and required supplies.  They are all posted under the "Policies" tab at the top.  Please ask your student at the dinner table tonight about some of the history class expectations and privileges.

All students are coming home with a paper for you to fill out.  Please include the best email address (you can provide two) to get a hold of you during the day.  This is a 5 point assignment, so please fill it out and send it back.
